To hire a golf photographer is a must for any course worth its salt. Or worth its bunker sand, for that matter! Have you ever seen a true championship course that relies on sub-par pictures? I don’t mean ‘under par’, I mean ‘not good enough’. OK, there’s an exception. When it comes to social media strategy for golf resorts, there are some tricks of the trade that involve getting as many visitors as possible to post their iPhone golf course pix on sites like Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and others. Think ‘Bandon Dunes.‘ But those image feeds are not, of course, based on the high quality images that can hang on the wall in your clubhouse. And when it comes to photography that will be used in popular magazines and in your other printed marketing material, this has to be top-notch. One great image can make a huge difference to your bottom line! Just ask the people who market Wales as a golf destination, and how the images of Nefyn & District have been a huge boon to their campaign. What to think of before you hire golf photographer
The best golf pictures will makes people’s knees go weak and their eyes go all dreamy. You say you don’t know where to hire a golf photographer in your town? Maybe you have a favorite, but he or she is based on the other side of the planet. You can’t afford to fly them in for photo shoot of your course. There’s always a way…. There are so many good golf photographers out there. Unfortunately, they tend to be individualists, and nobody has yet started an international organization or association of golf photographers. A comprehensive list of golf photographers does not exist. So you just have to do some research on who’s working nearby.
Why not get a feel for what style you like, and then choose to hire a golf photographer based on your style? Buy some photo books for you and your members to peruse in the clubhouse. I can think of a few nice ones. More on that in a future post….
